About the Role
Process Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer
£43,000 to £46,000 plus bonus, plus excellent benefits
Birmingham
Hours are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday, 8:30-4:30pm.
We're seeking a Process Engineer to work for a global player in metal manufacturing. You will be responsible for daily monitoring of process quality performance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Daily activity to confirm Quality records and control plans throughout the Plant are being maintained and support product release at all stages of the process
Control the Quality of all product types through all stages at the specific site using process data.
Understanding the formulation process and supporting the supply of work instructions to the manufacturing team
Owning and developing Quality system, including Quality procedures, inspection standards and SOP’s
To investigate and action all non-standards including sub-contractors
Support root cause analysis for major non-standard events and instigate actions as part of the regular area non-standards meetings
Regularly confirm process control and machine capabilities using SOP’s, control plans and diagnostics to confirm daily process adherence
Accountable for the set-up of process routes to ensure the product conforms to all customer requirements. This will involve use of modelling techniques for route development.
To lead and conduct trials and NPI for process and product development within the Quality system to improve current routes.
Support in all site yield activities
Accountable for seeking out and implementing ‘Best Practice’ for manufacturing process and systems both within the group and externally.
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATION/EDUCATION:
- Preferably HNC/Degree in materials science/engineering.
- Ideally, someone with Metallurgy experience.
- Problem solving skills
- Route cause analysis / 8D techniques
EXPERIENCE:
Manufacturing and technical experience within a metals manufacturing industry
Experience in Aerospace and/or metal manufacturing, and the handling and analysis of data through the use of Excel or Minitab software would be a distinct advantage.
Candidates are likely to have worked for metals manufacturing, aerospace or automotive industry.
Process improvements experience.
If someone has worked with raw materials or forging that would be advantageous.
Companies are likely to be steel manufacturers, aluminium producers, melting, liquid metal.
